California Blue
Solo Exhibition by Thierry Lefort
Exhibition through September 2025
We are pleased to invite you to the opening reception of Thierry Lefort's solo exhibition, a collaboration between Show Gallery with Villa Albertine, Yoyo Maeght, and Gallery 33 at Gallery 33 at the Georgian Hotel.
This exhibition focuses on Lefort's personal vision of California, featuring his unique Blue Series and a new exclusive color recently created by the artist for the historic French paint house LeFranc Bourgeois—Bleu Californien Lefort which is the same color as the Georgian Hotel. Known for his mastery in mixing subtle tones, Lefort’s Bleu Californien is inspired by the city’s dynamic palette, blending high-tech urban structures with the natural light and shadows that define Los Angeles.
Known for his ability to capture both the ethereal and everyday aspects of the city, Lefort’s work brings to life the vibrant nuances of Los Angeles. His Blue Series reflects not just the iconic Californian skies but the subtle poetry found in the city’s streets, shadows, and contrasts.
Ten years ago, Thierry Lefort embarked on a transformative journey to Los Angeles, captivated by the city’s light and geography. His works reveal an unusual yet striking perspective of LA, with scenes of palm trees, empty streets, and hidden structures, each painted with radical choices in color and form. According to Lefort: "The topic doesn’t matter. To paint from nature is not to copy; it is to realize one’s sensations.”
Thierry Lefort’s work transcends traditional landscapes, drawing audiences into an artistic exploration of both the visible and invisible layers of Los Angeles. His minimalistic yet intricate approach reflects his deep philosophical connection to nature, Zen principles, and his dedication to capturing the truth of his surroundings.
